It’s quite the remarkable campaign, the one made for Karen Walker’s newly designed eyewear. Not because the glasses are quite out there – and awesome, by the way – but because of the beautiful photos that show them off.
Karen Walker collaborated with the ITC Ethical Fashion Initiative by the United Nations for the accessories in her spring/summer 2014 collection, she called it Visible. A name that actually explains a lot about this campaign.
The ITC Ethical Fashion Initiative creates work in community groups of micro-artisans located in urban slums and disadvantaged rural areas of Kenya. They’re clear about one thing: it’s not a charity project, it’s work. And Karen Walker decided to show us these workers. The people you see in the campaign photos are actually the ones that worked on the pouches which come with every pair available in the designers eyewear collection.
